well, actually one confession to make - i started off the week with all good intentions to get some of my projects completed -laid out my fabrics i had finally decided on

checked the pattern i was to use (pic above)

cut out my strips, put them in the order i wanted to use them and put them on my sewing table ready to go

and that was on sunday - and thats all i have achieved!

i did get sidetracked by finishing off a little handquilted baby quilt

it was lovely just to sit and quilt- however the confession is that the last two nights i have been so hot and tired i have just vegged out in front of the tv watching old movies! how bad is that, in the middle of summer, when i should be outside doing stuff - i did feel guilty! i would add that i had been outside nearly all day, what with trying to do the garden (weed alert!) and the animals (who by the way hate hot weather as the flies drive them nuts!). but all the same, its summer!

why is it that in the middle of winter when i'm soaked to the skin and freezing i have this image of sitting in the garden quietly stitching, time standing still. the reality never quite seems to match up! the minute i sit down someone either wants me, or i get besieged by flies!

hey ho, never mind, i'm not really whingeing (oh no, i hear you say!) just wondering why things never turn out as one plans!

the only two who are quite happy to chill out on hot days are the dogs - they have no guilty qualms at all!

off outside now to poo pick - gosh i have such fun!!!

All the best intentions seem to end up like that here. I know what you mean about this idyllic view of sitting out on summer evenings - doesn't ever seem to work out that way!

I know exactly what you mean! Last night Mr P MADE me stop folding the washing so I could do 5 mins of jewelling. I think I must have looked a bit careworn. What a poppet. The washing's still downstairs waiting though!

You could make poo picking into fun, if you section off bits of the garden like a bingo card: give all family members a card with a few 'squares' each. Whoever crosses off their squares first each week wins something. :-D I'm full of good ideas, me :-D

Yup, right there with you on the dreams of long summer evenings outside with a bit of sewing. Never quite happens though!!

Enjoy the poo picking :)

Ooo! I'm with Kitty. Let's turn it into internet poo bingo and the winner can come do all the horse stuff for the day ;-)

What we plan to do and what we actually manage to achieve is often wildly different isn't it? I always plan to be a good mummy............!

i'm sure you are a good mummy lucy!i know sometimes we all think we should do better, but life's not like that - just a mix of good and hopefully not too much bad! gosh hark at me getting all whatyamacallit!

Your doggies are so cute!! I need to get outside and weed more too but I never seem to get inspired about that!! Try to enjoy what's left of summer! And if it makes you feel better, I've had quilt pieces cut out since last winter and nothing's been sewn yet!!!

Thanks for your lovely comment about books - I don't have your email address so that I can reply properly - do you think you could send me an email so I can talk to you more easily??? Both your book recommendations were great - so great in fact that I already have them!!!! Childhood Treasures is my all time favourite book and I recognised your photo from the Quick Quilts book!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving such a lovely comment. Sorry I couldn't reply privately as you have you mail set at no reply. There will be other swaps in the future.

The pattern your using looks lovely. I'm sure the motivation will come. I say that, but I'm sitting on projects from "I don't know when." ~jen~

Dogs have a good life. Don't feel guilty about quilting inside on a hot day. It's been so cold over here at the moment that I wish I could be outside but am secretly happy to spend lots of time in my sewing room.
